From November 18-19, 2011 the phrase; "In Giving, We Receive" took on a slightly new meaning as the DYC Student Physical Therapy Association and volunteers from various healthcare programs on campus worked together with volunteers from Daemen and Villa Maria Colleges to help feed the hungry.
470+ Volunteers…468 boxes of food sent…101,088 meals packaged…277 children fed for an entire year!
The group came together to support Feed My Starving Children, an organization which seeks to feed children in need in various parts of the world. The group applied the wisdom of Saint Francis of Assisi: "Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible" in conjunction with St. Marguerite d'Youville's credo, "We must never refuse to serve" as volunteers of all ages came together to work on this project. Their efforts were also in keeping with the commitment of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart and the D'Youville College community to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Grey Nuns by working toward the eradication of hunger in the world.
