BUFFALO – The D’Youville college chiropractic department will present a check for $1800 to the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County on Tuesday, August 31 at noon. The presentation will take place at the D’Youville Chiropractic Health Center 2900 Main Street in Buffalo. (Across from Bennett High School)
The money was raised at a community wellness day held on May 1 at Bennett High School that was hosted and coordinated by D’Youville. "A number of community agencies participated as well as many of the college departments including chiropractic, nursing, and physical therapy,” according to Lisa DeMarco, clinical assistant professor in chiropractic and coordinator of the program.
The event provided programs on fall prevention, spinal screening, and raised awareness about different health conditions affecting individuals in the community. "This was the first annual community wellness day and we hope to make a positive and long lasting impact in the lives of community members. We are already planning for the next one,” she said. She, along with members of the community wellness team will present the check to Mike Weiner, president of the United Way and Rema Hanash, vice president of resource development.
