Mary Jane Key, billing coordinator in the D’Youville Student Accounting Office, was honored by the Gliding Stars Adaptive Ice Skating Program for her long time devotion as a volunteer with the organization that teaches challenged individuals to achieve self-confidence by learning to ice skate. She received the ‘Founder’s Award’ for her many years of volunteering and dedication to the organization at the annual "Dancing With the Gliding Stars Ice Show” at the Pepsi Center in March. It is the highest award the organization gives. "Mary Jane has been an incredible volunteer…,” said Elizabeth O’Donnell, founder and president. "She’s the rink captain on Sunday nights, chairperson of basket auction at both ice shows, and a supporter and hands on volunteer at literally every event Gliding Stars does throughout the year.” "She is always ‘in the trenches’ working and is well loved by everyone at Gliding Stars. She is a vital part of the Gliding Stars Family.” Mary Jane, known as "MJ” by everyone, loves her volunteer work. "It’s a wonderful organization that helps individuals that otherwise would be written off. I plan on continuing to help the people who come to Gliding Stars and my best reward is getting their hugs when they accomplish their goals. Many times, it’s the best part of my week,” she said. Mary Jane has been at D’Youville since 1981.
