Comes With Buffalo Schools Job Guarantee
BUFFALO –
D’Youville College, in cooperation with the Buffalo Public Schools, has
established a scholarship for a Buffalo District high school student
who enrolls at D’Youville following graduation and meets the criteria
for admission.
The scholarship will cover full tuition for four
years with priority given to a student who has an interest in teacher
education, especially in the areas of math and science.
“The
need in the Buffalo District is greatest for teachers certified in
mathematics and the sciences,” according to Dr. James A. Williams,
superintendent of the Buffalo Public Schools.
“I am committing,
on behalf of the Buffalo schools, an offer of employment to the
recipient of the scholarship at the completion of their degree and if
he/she meets other set criteria,” he said.
The scholarship is effective this fall and will be awarded annually to a selected student.
“We
hope this scholarship will encourage students to excel in high school
and to look at a career in the classroom in Buffalo,” a D’Youville
spokesman said.
D’Youville, currently celebrating its
centennial, currently enrolls approximately 3000 students and its West
Side campus is a City landmark.
