The Fireside Chats are a series of conversations and remembrances with present and retired faculty. The presenters will reflect on their time at D’Youville College, their colleagues and students—past and present, the changes they have witnessed at the college and their vision of D’Youville College for the future.

Business and Allied Health faculty are the speakers for this event.

Speaker Biographies

Kushnood Haq, MBA, Ph.D. Dr. Haq has served as the Associate Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs since 2006. From 2001 until 2005 he served as Graduate Director of the International Business Program and Chair of the Business Department. Dr. Haq’s research interests include Foreign Direct Investment; technological change and innovation; Joint ventures and collaborations in high-technology industries; economic and industrial development; political economy; international trade, finance, and marketing; small business management; international strategic management, and multi-cultural HRM management. He teaches courses in Business/International Business. Dr. Haq received his Ph.D. in International Trade from the University at Buffalo and an M.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from St. Bonaventure University.

Judith H. Schiffert, R.N, N.P., Ed.D. Dr. Schiffert came to D’Youville College in 1995, and is a professor in the Graduate Department of Health Services Administration. Dr. Schiffert returned to D’Youville, her alma mater, after serving in numerous administrative roles in Cardiovascular Services at Buffalo General Hospital. Dr. Schiffert is a Fellow in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the first fellow named in New York State. During her time at D’Youville, Dr. Schiffert collaborated in securing more than $102,000,000 in grant funding for programs and research to advance the health of the WNY region. HSA graduate students have gained by participating in primarily translational and action research as part of their Practicum and/or their thesis. Consistent with her interest in advancing the health of the WNY community, her most recent initiative was as a founder of the Pinnacle Charter School on the east side of Buffalo on the border of the Buffalo Medical Corridor. Dr. Schiffert earned her Ed.D. in Health Behavioral Sciences at University at Buffalo and her N.P. from the University of Rochester.

Joseph Fennell, MBA. Professor Fennell has over 30 years of college teaching experience at D’Youville. He has also served as a consultant to local businesses on management related matters. He teaches courses in the field of Management and Economics.
