| The Fireside Chats are a series of conversations and remembrances with present and retired faculty. The presenters will reflect on their time at D’Youville College, their colleagues and students—past and present, the changes they have witnessed at the college and their vision of D’Youville College for the future. Speaker BiographiesVerna Kieffer, RN, DNS, Chair, Department of Nursing. Dr. Kieffer received her B.S., M.S., and DNS from the SUNY at Buffalo. She was appointed Chair of the Department of Nursing in July 2001. Her interests include community wellness, adult health, gerontology, quality of life and quality of care issues. Her doctoral research was an exploration of the professional nurse’s ability to advocate for patients in the hospital environment. Dr. Kieffer has been a full time DYC faculty member since Fall 1992. Carole Gutt, RN, Ed.D. Dr. Gutt has been a full time DYC faculty member since Fall 1985. Dr. Gutt was the Chair of the Nursing Department from 1997- 2001 and the Director of Graduate Nursing programs from 1989-1997. Dr. Gutt’s areas of expertise include child health, curriculum development, and wellness. Patricia Bahn, RN, MS. Mrs. Bahn has been a Registered Nurse for almost one-half of a century. For much of that time she has taught nursing students at D’Youville College. Her area of expertise is in medical and surgical nursing. Paul T. Hageman, Ph.D., R.N., FAAIM, is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Integrative Holistic Health Studies at D’Youville College. He earned his Ph.D. in Nursing Science Theory and Research Development at New York University. Dr. Hageman is a Fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine, maintains a private practice, and has authored various professional papers and publications. |
